Tithing Conclusion
Tithing was not meant to be given grudgingly. It was meant to be given cheerfully for the work of the Lord
as an expression of how thankful we are for all that God has done for us. You can be cheerful because you
know that there’s more where that came from. And in reality, we are just giving back to God a small portion
of what He has already given us because all that we have came from Him. Let’s face facts, churches today
could not survive without our tithes. A church needs money to operate just as you need money to keep your
household running. The church will always need money for basic operating expenses, salaries and for urgent
needs. Giving and generosity from the heart shouldn’t just stop at your church. There are a lot of other
needs to be met in life for example ministries and organizations, the poor and needy, the hungry and the
sick, etc.
When it comes to your finances, tithing should be your number one concern when it comes to getting out of
debt. Your first thought may be that you have to pay your bills first and if there’s anything left over
you will tithe then. That’s not how it works. The Bible speaks of bringing our "First Fruits" to the Lord
meaning to pay your tithes before anything else gets paid Leviticus 23:10 and Exodus 34:26. Tithing is the
key to getting out of debt. If you don’t, you’re opening windows for the serious consequences we talked
about earlier. When you tithe, you are paving the way for God to bless you abundantly so you’ll have the
money you need and then some to pay your bills and get out of debt.
Tithing needs to be a decision that you will stick with and have faith and trust in God because if a rough
financial time arises, you will probably want to hold back your tithe for fear of not having enough money
to pay your bills. Trust God and pray over your tithe when you place it in the offering plate that it
will return to you many fold over. God will honor your faith. Step out in faith and try it and see that
God will make a way for all your needs.
God can also prompt your spirit and tell you how much to give if you are willing to listen. On occasions
when I am in a situation where I want to give a love offering of some kind, God will speak to me and give
me a dollar figure loud and clear. The more you are faithful in giving the more God will use you to give.
But understand this and be prepared, that the amounts God asks you to give can get larger too as you
become more faithful. Just do as He asks, be financially faithful and He will abundantly bless you in return.
