As I sit thinking about the years throughout my life, I recall certain amazing
moments when I knew God was with me. I'm not just talking about a thought or a
feeling, I mean moments when God actually made things happen or did something
right before my eyes that could not have taken place on their own. Some of these
times were when I called on God for help and others were times when He knew I
needed help before I did. God has always wanted to commune with us from the
beginning of time as He did with Adam in the Garden of Eden . . . and He still wants to
commune with us today. Things have not changed in our day. He is a good friend
who is always there and wants to help you when you need help. I would like to
share some of these moments with you so you can imagine the possibilities and
call on God when you need Him . . . even for the little things.
God Helped Me When . . . One cold windy January day up North, I was trying
to unscrew a bolt from beneath my car and the temperature was below freezing.
The bolt was frozen and wouldn't budge. Even the strength of my strong step father wouldn't
turn it at all so he decided to go get another wrench. While he was gone, I got
to the point were I couldn't stand the cold anymore and asked God to please loosen
this bolt for me. I layed there on that cold icy cement looking up at that bolt
for a few seconds and then slipped the wrench around it one more time. I barely
put any pressure to it and it just spun around with total ease! My step father returned and
saw that it was off and asked how in the world did I do it. I told him I asked God to
do it and He did.
God Helped Me When . . .. I was in the military and didn’t have a car at the time. It was dark
outside and I was walking down a sidewalk in town returning to my barracks. All of a sudden I felt something touch my back. Something
big was touching me. I turned around and looked but didn’t see anything. The feeling remained constant and never left. It felt like
the palm of a huge hand the size of my entire body resting on my back side. With a very gentle touch that hand guided and softly
pushed me all the way home. I reached my barracks in about 15 minutes and put my key in the door knob to my room. I could still
feel the hand on me. I then opened the door a few inches and that was when the touch of the hand left as quickly as it came and I
felt it no more. The large hand that protected me from who knows what, left only when the door to my room was open and only when I
was safe. I never did see the hand with my eyes but I could see it in my mind. It gave me a comforting feeling of protection and my
heart knew that it was the hand of God. It didn’t startle me or anything. It was just a nice feeling to know that God was watching
over me. I thought about this incident many times and can only imagine that I was in some sort of danger and that God or a ministering
angel had guided and protected me all the way home.
God Helped Me When . . . My little dog got sick and the veterinarians
didn't know what to do. During those times I asked God to heal her and He did leaving
the doctors baffled with no explanation for her recovery. God will heal your pets too!
God Helped Me When . . . I was in the hospital with a severe leg injury that left me
in excruciating pain. I won’t go into all the details but one night the pain was so severe that it just wouldn’t leave and even
the strong pain medicine didn’t help. It was the middle of the night and the other patients in that room were asleep. I had the
radio playing that was connected to my hospital bed on low volume and it was set on a soft rock music station. All of a sudden I
heard the buttons to the radio started clicking on its own and it landed on a Christian station. I just looked over at it and
listened to the preacher for a minute or so and then fell peacefully asleep for the rest of the night.
God Helped Me When . . . I needed a miracle for that same accident described above.
Both my Tibia and Fibula were broken in half and the full thickness of my skin had to be
taken off from my knee to my ankle. They scheduled an amputation several times but I
wouldn't sign the papers. The main problem was the skin. They could align and fix the bones
with a special external device with rods, but I only had muscle left and the top part of
the bone was exposed. The doctors told me that skin grafts don't grow on bare bone but
that they'll try it anyway. Well they did and the skin took beautifully! To this day over 30
years later, you can see my bone with a thin layer of shiny new skin adhered nicely to it! The
doctors called me the "Miracle Kid" because they've never seen that happen before.
God Helped Me When . . . I was headed out of town on vacation. I had pulled into a McDonald’s
for breakfast when my tire went flat. . I had pulled into a McDonald’s for breakfast when my tire went flat. I knew how to change
the tire but in less than a minute an open aired Jeep pulled up right beside me. Sitting in it were 3 very large weight lifting
guys wearing tank tops. They looked like 3 Incredible Hulks they were so big. They hopped out of the Jeep and immediately said,
"Ma’am, can we change that tire for you?" They had that tire changed in no time and then went in to have breakfast. Even though
I could have changed that tire myself, God sent 3 helpers to do it for me to lighten my load. Again it just showed to me that God
goes everywhere that we go and is looking out for us.
I've had many other events that have happened that I could tell you about, but I think you understand what I'm trying to say.
God is so good to us that He's always there to help us when we call on Him and He also sends help to us and puts things in motion
before we even realize that we need help. If we remain faithful to God and live according to His will and continue to
have faith and trust in Him everyday of our lives, He will always be there for us. God is our Father and
like any good Father, He is there to protect and shelter us and attend to our needs. He is not the one who causes bad things
to happen in our lives, He is the one who fixes them!
